NORTHFIELD, Vt. —Norwich University dedicated the Senator Patrick Leahy School of Cybersecurity and Advanced Computing today during the “U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy Cyber Symposium.” Formerly the School of Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Computing, the new name reflects Leahy’s longstanding support of cybersecurity education at Norwich University and in the state of Vermont.

Leahy Symposium WEB 2022 1NORTHFIELD, Vt. —Norwich University will host the “U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy Cyber Symposium” on August 16, with U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., remotely joining President Mark Anarumo, Ph.D., distinguished experts and special guests for a day-long discussion on the latest innovations in cybersecurity and the importance of cyber education and workforce development in Vermont.

Held in Mack Hall Auditorium, this event is free and open to the public and includes panel discussions on Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Institutes, future technology in cybersecurity, and the state of cybersecurity in Vermont. At 11:15 a.m., there will be a special presentation honoring Leahy for generations to come.

NORTHFIELD, Vt. —Norwich University hosted students and faculty from the Senior Military Colleges (SMC) for a weeklong Cyber Summer Immersion from July 25-29, 2022.

Twenty-seven cybersecurity students from four SMCs – University of North Georgia, The Citadel, Norwich, and Texas A&M – spent the week on Norwich’s Northfield, Vermont campus for a deep immersion into cybersecurity-related topics. The weeklong event featured lectures and exercises on Deepfakes, Information Operations, Intelligence and other cyber-related issues.

A former lecturer in architecture and research associate at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design; adjunct professor at Wentworth Institute of Technology; and co-founder and principal of VHS Office, a Boston-based design build firm, Seibold brings an expertise in digital design and fabrication.

NORTHFIELD, Vt. —Norwich University will receive $75,000 – $15,000 per year for five years – from the Pritzker Military Foundation, to help fund new, diverse student activities.

This gift continues about 20 years of student life support from PMF. The partnership provides valuable startup funding, assisting with operating expenses and events for a broad range of new activities.
