Andres Gutierrez to speak in School of Architecture + Design lecture series

The School of Architecture + Art is pleased to announce a lecture by Andres Gutierrez, architectural designer and president of the Vermont American Institute of Architets (AIA). Join the crowd virtually or in person on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the gallery of Chaplin Hall.

Andres Gutierrez is currently an architectural designer at Freeman French Freeman and serves as president of the Vermont chapter of the AIA. He is also the director of AIA Vermont's Emerging Professionals Network and holds a bachelor's in architecture from the Universidad de Los Andes and a Master of Professional Studies in Design Management from Pratt Institute. Gutierrez offers a diverse and international perspective on architecture and has worked in Bogota, Colombia; New York City; and currently in Burlington, Vermont. He will speak to his unique, nonlinear career path and reflections on lessons learned.

This lecture is part of the broader lecture series, entitled "Discerning Design: Vermont and Beyond."
