Men’s Ice Hockey: 11 Cadets recognized as AHCA Krampade All-American Scholars

Eleven members of the Norwich University men's ice hockey team were named 2025-26 Krampade All-American Scholars by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA), as announced by the organization.Cole Fagan '28, Ocean Fancy '29, Matt Harvey '26, Hayden Heinrich '27, Cory Kashul '29, Kyle Kudrna '28, Samuel Larsson '29, Sami Molu '27, Zach Ophoven '27, Joe Schubert '27, and Ben van Waterschoot '28 represented Norwich among this year's honorees. The AHCA recognized 994 NCAA Division II-III men's and women's hockey student-athletes as Krampade All-American Scholars for the 2025-26 season, including 550 men's honorees and 444 women's honorees. To qualify, student-athletes must attain a 3.75 grade-point average for each semester and appear in at least 40 percent of their team's games. Exceptions are granted for injured players and backup goaltenders, while schools must also be members of the AHCA.The national academic recognition follows another recent classroom honor for the Cadets, who received the Little East Conference (LEC) Team Academic Award for men's ice hockey with a 3.77 team GPA and placed 25 student-athletes on the LEC Academic Honor Roll for the Spring 2026 semester.Norwich paired that academic success with one of the program's strongest on-ice seasons in recent years. In its first season as a Little East Conference member, the Cadets captured both the inaugural LEC regular season and tournament championships, returned to the NCAA Division III Tournament, and advanced to the national quarterfinal round. The Cadets finished 19-6-4 overall under Head Coach Dominick Dawes '04, closing the season on a 9-1-3 stretch. Norwich defeated Babson College, 4-1, inside Kreitzberg Arena to claim the first LEC Tournament title before earning a 6-1 victory at Salve Regina University in the NCAA First Round. The season came to a close in a 2-1 overtime setback at eventual national champion Hamilton College in the NCAA Quarterfinals.Molu was named LEC Goalie of the Year and LEC Tournament Most Valuable Player after helping backstop Norwich through its championship run, while Fancy earned a spot on the LEC All-Rookie Team after making an immediate impact on the Cadets' blue line. The AHCA Krampade All-American Scholar recognition adds another academic distinction to a season in which Norwich combined conference championship success, national postseason performance, and continued excellence in the classroom.
