Norwich Board of Fellows hosts successful First Contact event
The University’s Board of Fellows celebrates service, faculty excellence, and student engagement.
The Norwich University Board of Fellows gathered recently to celebrate their ongoing commitment to the university through volunteer service, mentorship, and recognition of faculty achievement. Comprised of dedicated alumni and friends of the university, the Board of Fellows plays a vital role in supporting Norwich’s mission by connecting students to professional networks, offering career guidance, and advancing academic initiatives. Their efforts underscore a tradition of service and leadership that strengthens the Norwich community year after year.
During the event, two distinguished faculty members were honored for their exceptional contributions to the university. COL Michael B. Kelley, USA (Ret.), Ph.D., of the David Crawford School of Engineering, received the prestigious Board of Fellows Medallion for his decades of service as an educator, mentor, and leader in engineering education. Dr. Helene M. Sisti, a neuroscience expert whose research explores learning and neuroplasticity, was awarded the Board of Fellows Research and Development Faculty Prize for her scholarship and dedication to student learning. Both faculty members exemplify the Norwich ethos of academic excellence and unwavering commitment to student success.
The celebration also marked the success of the Board of Fellows’ First Contact event, which welcomed over 400 new students. At this high-energy gathering, fellows presented each student with a Norwich alumni challenge coin as a symbol of encouragement and belonging, while offering mentorship and career guidance to help them navigate their time at Norwich and prepare for life after graduation. By connecting students with experienced professionals and reinforcing the value of the Norwich network, the Board of Fellows continues to build strong bridges between education and future career pathways.
