- Lecturer of Leadership
About
Nelson (Neal) Anderson is a distinguished educator, performance coach, and consciousness researcher who brings over two decades of experience in leadership development, organizational coaching, and human potential optimization to his work at Norwich University. Currently serving as a lecturer of leadership in the William M. Lasky School of Business, Anderson teaches courses spanning from introductory business concepts to advanced organizational leadership, while simultaneously pursuing doctoral studies in transformational leadership and coaching.
Anderson's unique approach to leadership education integrates consciousness-based methodologies with traditional business practices, drawing from his extensive certifications in HeartMath biofeedback techniques, Spiritual Quotient Inventory assessment, and holistic coaching through the Goal Imagery Institute. His research interests center on the neurobiology of peak performance, Flow State coaching, and leveraging both human and artificial intelligence for innovative problem-solving — work that has positioned him at the forefront of transformational leadership education. As he continues to pursue master certification coaching with the International Coaching Federation and holds a clinical certification for stress and emotional management, Anderson specializes in helping individuals and organizations achieve optimal performance through awareness-based practices.
Beyond his academic and coaching work, Anderson has demonstrated exceptional leadership in athletics, serving for over a decade as head men's lacrosse coach and assistant athletic director at Norwich University, where he was recognized three times as Great Northeast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. His athletic achievements include being drafted by the Boston Cannons, a professional lacrosse team, and earning USILA-NCAA All-American honors. Anderson combines his passion for consciousness studies and contemplative practices with practical applications in education and coaching, creating innovative programs that bridge empirical leadership research with transformational methodologies designed to help others recognize their authentic potential and navigate life with greater awareness and purpose.
