“What Comes Next?”

At the heart of humanity’s progress lies the question. Which question? Exactly.

At the heart of humanity’s progress lies the question. Which question? Exactly.

At some point, faced with a certain challenge, someone asked the question: How can I get there more quickly, more efficiently, more safely than I can right now? Generation after generation, human beings ask this question. They sit with it, turn it over, find new ways to look at it. They experience setbacks and make colossal mistakes. They form partnerships, argue, and celebrate. They return to the drawing board. And through the dust and noise have emerged roads, bicycles, automobiles, elevators, railways, airlines, spacecraft, the inner space of the Internet, cures to diseases, solutions to innumerable obstacles of progress. And because human beings love to explore and thrive on fixing, improving, and advancing, and because we like a good plot twist, we’re always asking, What comes next?

That’s what research at Norwich is about: What comes next?

So as you explore the research and centers of Norwich, we hope you’ll gain an appreciation for the breadth of disciplines and quality of research carried out on campus and in locations worldwide. And, we hope you come out with a few questions of your own.
