Women Kicking Glass: Dressing for Success

Norwich University has long been a place of firsts since Captain Alden Partridge's founding educational vision. That legacy of opportunity continues today through Women Kicking Glass, whose Dressing for Success program equips students with free, donated professional attire for internships, job interviews, business settings, and military social events where uniforms aren't required.

The program launched in 2024 to mark 50 years of women living on the Northfield campus and serving in the Corps of Cadets. Originally offered to female students, Dressing for Success has since grown to serve the entire student body. In its first three years, nearly 1,000 students have browsed the racks and taken home professional wear at no cost.

How the Program Works

Dressing for Success runs on community generosity. Alumni, Northfield residents, and friends and family across the greater Norwich community donate the clothing that fills the racks each year, making the event one of the most anticipated on campus.

Students shop the selection of men's and women's professional attire, choosing pieces and trying them on to find the right fit. If an item needs adjustment, the Norwich uniform shop provides alterations free of charge. Once a student's selections are complete, the clothing is packed into garment bags to send them off ready — and confident — for the next step in their professional careers.

Help Fill the Racks

The next Dressing for Success event is set for February 2027. Donations of suits, dresses, shirts, ties, blouses, slacks, trousers, and accessories in good condition are accepted year-round.
