Norwich University appoints LTG (R) Mark Bowman to its Board of Trustees

Norwich University today announced the appointment of LTG (R) Mark Bowman to its Board of Trustees. Bowman will serve as a member of the Technology Committee and the Enrollment, Retention, Marketing (ERM) Committee of the Board. He will serve a five-year term. Following the appointment of Bowman, the Board will comprise 32 trustees, 23 of whom are Norwich University graduates.

Bowman, 66, holds the distinction of serving in our Army for more than 37 years where he oversaw IT, communications and cyber at all levels. In his final assignment, he served as the Director of Command, Control, Communications and Computers/Cyber for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pentagon. Prior to his tenure on the Joint Staff, Bowman served as the Director of Architecture, Operations, Networks, and Space within the Office of the Chief Information Officer/G6, Army, Pentagon.

"We are pleased to welcome LTG (R) Mark Bowman to the Norwich University Board of Trustees," said chairman, Alan DeForest. "Mark's rich expertise in IT innovation, leadership, and IT security will be invaluable to Norwich as we grow our mission to serve the next generation of Norwich students."

A 1978 graduate of Norwich, Bowman majored in history. As a student in the Corps of Cadets, he appeared on the Dean’s list, was a recipient of the physical proficiency award all four years and served as the Vice President of the Pi Alpha Theta fraternity. Bowman also held the ranks of first sergeant and first lieutenant - his junior and senior year, respectively. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration from Shippensburg University.

Post-military, he started a small business where he serves as a Corporate Advisor for NTT Data, Hypori, Tanium, and others. He also serves as a Senior Mentor for our Army. Additionally, he and his wife are dedicated to community service.

LTG (R) Mark S. Bowman and his wife of 43 years, Micki, split time between Massachusetts and Virginia. The couple are the proud parents of two adult children, a daughter and successful businesswoman, Maria, a son, Matt, an Army Aviator, and a granddaughter, Blair.
