About
Colonel Matthew P. Foisy serves as Commander and Professor of Aerospace Studies for Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 867 at Norwich University. In this role, he leads a cadre of instructors responsible for recruiting, educating, training, and professionally developing nearly 250 cadets preparing to commission as officers in the United States Air Force and United States Space Force. He is committed to developing principled leaders equipped to serve in an increasingly complex global security environment.
A Norwich University alumnus, Colonel Foisy earned his commission through the University's Air Force ROTC program in 1998. During his distinguished military career, he has held a broad range of leadership and operational assignments within the Security Forces career field and at higher headquarters. His experience includes Presidential Security, Nuclear Security, Antiterrorism, Joint Basing, service at Multi-National Force–Iraq Headquarters, Major Command (MAJCOM) staff, and Combatant Command staff.
Colonel Foisy's leadership experience includes serving as a three-time Squadron Commander, Deputy Group Commander, and Security Forces Group Commander. Drawing on decades of operational and command experience, he mentors Norwich cadets as they prepare for military service, emphasizing leadership, integrity, and professional excellence in the Air Force and Space Force.
