CGRS Fellowships

The Center for Global Resilience and Security (CGRS) brings Norwich University’s unique strengths in leadership, security, experiential education, and perseverance to resilient community building. Our work centers on human resilience.

ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY INITIATIVE

In 2018, the Center for Global Resilience and Security (CGRS) launched the Environmental Security Initiative (ESI) in collaboration with the John and Mary Frances Patton Peace & War Center (PAWC) and the Association for Environmental Health and Sciences (AEHS) Foundation. A generous gift from the AEHS Foundation was matched by Norwich University to award student fellowships in Environmental Security (ES).

The ES fellowship enables Norwich undergraduates from any academic discipline the opportunity to pursue areas of inquiry and experiences that will promote and expand their understanding of connections between environmental degradation and conflict and security.

Fellowship activities will include some or all of the following:

  1. Research and writing on specific topics assigned by the CGRS-PaWC-AEHS team and their partners.
  2. Travel to and presentation in conferences related to environmental security.
  3. Network with the CGRS-PaWC-AEHS partners.

You must have a current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher* to apply.

RESILIENT VERMONT NETWORK

The Resilient Vermont Network (RVT) housed within the Center for Global Resilience and Security strives to foster community relationships, programming, and outreach to make Vermont and Vermonters stronger, healthier, and more secure in the face of rapidly evolving variables such as climate change, public health crises, globalized economies, and more.

The RVT fellowship enables Norwich undergraduates from any academic discipline the opportunity for community involvement, service, and to pursue areas of inquiry that will promote connections and understanding between land, water, energy, and people.

Fellowship activities will include some or all of the following:

  1. Research and writing on specific topics assigned by the CGRS-RVT team and their partners.
  2. Travel to and presentation in conferences related to economic, environmental, health, and community resilience.
  3. Network with CGRS-RVT partners.

You must have a current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply.

DOG RIVER CONSERVANCY

The Dog River Conservancy (DRC), located in central Vermont, brings together communities around the Dog River to promote awareness of water conservation efforts in the area.

The DRC fellowship enables Norwich undergraduates from any academic discipline the opportunity for community stewardship on issues that extend beyond water quality and geomorphology to include the waterway’s history and culture and water-ecosystem-community health.

Fellowship activities will include some or all of the following:

  1. Research and writing on specific topics assigned by the CGRS-DRC team and their partners.
  2. Travel to and presentation in conferences related to water conservation, water quality, geomorphology, and water-ecosystem-community health.
  3. Network with CGRS-DRC partners.

You must have a current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply.
