Jonathan Adkins, PhD, joined the faculty in the School of Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Computing at Norwich University in 2021.

He comes with an extensive background that includes military service, law enforcement instruction, and over ten years of research into several domains of cybersecurity, including the dark web, malware, and network penetration testing.

Adkins completed his PhD in Information Assurance at Nova Southeastern University in 2020. His research combined elements of Social Network Analysis, text mining, Natural Language Processing, sentiment analysis, and machine learning. His published dissertation involved the use of Twitter and other social media platforms for event detection. Dr. Adkins plans to apply his research experience to several domains of homeland security, including fake news detection, deepfakes, and social network visualization and analysis.

When not involved with Norwich activities, Dr. Adkins enjoys reading, watching the movies of Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, and his other favorite film directors, as well as spending time at the gym.
