Norwich University Professor Page Spiess Ph.D., has received the 2022 Vermont Women in Higher Education Carol A. Moore Scholarship.

Spiess is a senior lecturer in the College of Science and Mathematics Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry; was an inaugural fellow in the Institute for Innovation in Teaching & Learning; serves as the Academic Integrity Officer; the summer school coordinator; is a senior instructor in the College of Graduate & Continuing Studies; and she was the 2021 ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award© Recipient.

This $1000 scholarship recognizes women who are “currently working in higher education, who are successful in their roles, and who intend to engage in professional development or academic pursuits in order to further their career and work toward the mission of VWHE."

In her scholarship application, Spiess stated she would use the funds to complete a Professional Certificate in Restorative Justice at Vermont Law School, a program into which she has been accepted and will start on August 29th.

“A Professional Certificate in Restorative Justice will increase my ability to work with students, faculty, and staff and to train Restorative Justice Facilitators within the Academic Integrity system that I run as Academic Integrity Officer for residential programs,” Spiess said.

“Additionally, my newly gained skillset could be used if the university decides to implement a Restorative Justice process within its student discipline system in the future. At VLS I plan to take elective courses that include Restorative Justice in Educational Institutions, among others.”
