THE ATHLETIC TRAINING PROGRAM at Norwich—build the skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the lives of physically active people.
Through classroom and clinical training, you’ll learn by doing and become a highly qualified and multi-skilled healthcare professional. Collaborating with other health and medical professionals, athletic trainers provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions to athletes and other physically active persons. You will enhance lives.
As of November 2019, the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) has granted approval for Norwich University to offer the Master of Athletic Training degree. Starting fall 2019, all Athletic Training candidates will matriculate as a Health Sciences student in preparation for the Athletic Training graduate program. The Bachelor of Athletic Training will be phased out with the last class graduating in spring 2022. All students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training program will be eligible to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam upon graduation. Current students should reference information on this web page and/or the course catalog for the year they started the Athletic Training Program for information on their degree completion. All prospective Master of Athletic Training students should reference information on the Master of Athletic Training Program page.
NOTE: As of February 11, 2020 Norwich University is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The program has been placed on Probation as of February 11, 2020, by the CAATE, 6850 Austin Center Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78731-3101.
The probation status is a result of non-compliance with Standard 11, which states that programs must meet or exceed a three year aggregate of 70 percent first-time pass rate on the BOC examination. Our most recent pass rate data can be found under Athletic Training Program Outcomes.
