Expect Challenge. Achieve Distinction.

Revised September 2012

Purpose

This policy attempts to ensure the proper release of information from student records.

Policy

All releases of information from student records will fully comply with University policy and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).

Responsibility

The Registrar's Office is responsible for overseeing this policy in relation to academic records. The VP EM/SA is responsible for disciplinary and housing records.

Implementation/Guidelines

The Registrar's Office will act on all requests for an institutional response to inquiries from third parties about a student's academic record. In responding to extracurricular matters, the Registrar's Office will draw upon the records maintained by the Registrar and the VP EM/SA.

Other members of the faculty and staff will respond directly to inquiries addressed to them in their role as advisor, instructor, major department head or School Dean, or as custodian of specialized records, such as those maintained by the Treasurer, Director of Financial Aid, Director of Placement and Director of Cooperative Education. In all cases, those responding to inquiries will comply with FERPA.
