Norwich University has zero positive cases of COVID-19, is well above the 92nd percentile for vaccination rates, has an indoor mask policy that is being followed, is conducting surveillance testing of unvaccinated students, and is providing testing to symptomatic students. Given these initiatives and data, we continue to plan for a full fall 2021 term as scheduled, including a traditional Thanksgiving break, as outlined on the Registrar’s Academic Calendar.
Thank you to the 1,900 + Norwich students, as well as the faculty and staff, who provided their feedback on the recent survey to the end of the fall semester.
Students should plan to head home, or elsewhere, for Thanksgiving break and then return to campus for two weeks of instruction followed by final exams. The COVID-19 task force will be closely monitoring surveillance testing data and positivity rates in our central Vermont community, as well as nationally, and will create a “return to campus” plan to be enacted following the Thanksgiving break. Our reception plan will be communicated to the entire university community as advised by data reflecting the situation in November prior to break, and in full consultation with our medical and public health communities.
