- Had a twenty-minute personal Skype call from Argentina’s vice president, Gabriela Michetti, who discussed her country’s decision to exclusively adopt his dynamic disability symbol, the Accessible Icon.
- Won an award of $10,325 from the Vermont Genetics Network for his project, “Heading Off Helmet Interventions for Injury Prevention in Skateboarding.”
- Won a National Endowment for the Humanities Grant: Developing an Interdisciplinary Curriculum to Foster Citizen Scholars in the amount of $35,000. Co-directed with Professor Amy Woodbury Tease.
- Received an invitation to the first academic skateboard conference, Pushing Boarders International Conference on Skateboarding, from June 1-3, 2018, during which he co-chaired the Early Career Forum.
