Nearly 200 Years—Learn More About Norwich

In May 2018, when Elizabeth Ells ’18 arrived at Resilient Cities, the Annual Global Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation in Bonn, Germany, she was in for a surprise. Of all the students in attendance at this international conference, she was the only undergraduate. So that week, in addition to interacting with the world’s leading minds in resilience, she took her place among students in master’s and PhD programs.

“There were a myriad of countries there and each group spoke to what their community was working on and those that they were emulating in their practices,” said Ells, who appeared on an infrastructure resilience panel at the conference with civil and environmental engineering professor Tara Kulkarni. “Some groups came looking for help and guidance for their cities, which I thought this conference was an amazing platform to start with.”
