Cadets will play Maine Maritime on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium
Off to the tournament.
For the third time in a decade, Norwich University’s men’s lacrosse team will play in the NCAA Division III Tournament (the Cadets also appeared on 2013 and 2019). For the first time, the Cadets will host an NCAA Tournament game on Sabine Field and Haynes Family Stadium, playing Maine Maritime (9-6, 6-2 North Atlantic Conference) at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The winner of the Cadets-Mariners first-round game will visit Medford, Massachusetts, and face the tournament pod’s host, Tufts, on Saturday. St. John Fisher and Catholic, who will also play each other Saturday, complete the pod.
Norwich (18-1), head coached by Neal Anderson, has won 15 consecutive games and this past Saturday unseated Lasell University as Great Northeast Athletic Conference champion with an 11-8 win at Sabine Field.
Callum Jones, the GNAC Tournament MVP (three goals, two assists), and Jack Anzalone (one goal, four assists) had five points each in Saturday’s win over Lasell. Parker Campbell had a goal and two assists to raise his team-leading points total to 100. Goalie Andrew Vernon had 14 saves on 22 shots for his fourth win of the season.
