University community highlights 250 student-supporting awards

Behind many of Norwich University’s high-achieving scholars are scholarships that helped them focus on study, not money. At a Saturday lunch at Plumley Armory, the university officials celebrated the alumni, parents and friends who support endowed scholarships.

University President Mark Anarumo, Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations Elizabeth Kennedy ’01 and Harold “Doc” Martin, Class of 1920 Memorial Scholarship Chairman Benjamin (Lowell) L. Price ’93 spoke.

About 98% of Norwich’s students receive some sort of financial aid, the university’s annual Facts & Figures report shows, and 500 students every year receive a collective $4 million in scholarships. Norwich has 250 endowed scholarships, including 26 funded through estates. Fourteen new scholarships will be introduced in 2022-23.

“Your philanthropy plays a crucial role in making a Norwich education more affordable and attainable for our most deserving students,” the event program read. “Thank you for the impact you make in our students’ lives.”
