1 new question and answer added to CAMPUS LIFE FALL 2020:

Q. Will students be allowed to exercise (run, walk, etc.) off campus? If so, will they have to wear face masks?

A. Students will be allowed to work out off campus alone and in training groups on Central Street, Main Street, Wall Street, Water Street, Dole Hill Cemetery and the RT12/Smith Hill/Dole Hill Route. They will also be allowed to exercise on the Water Street rugby field.

Students will not be required to wear masks during this exercise, but they will be asked to practice appropriate physical distancing when encountering townspeople. Students working out will not be allowed to enter local stores or other community facilities.

TOWN HALL ON FALL 2020

44 questions and answers as captured from the Faculty and Staff Town Hall Meeting with President Anarumo on July 15, 2020.

Dear Norwich Community:

I am writing today with some updates on our plans for fall opening and the phased student arrivals beginning next weekend.

As I know you are well aware, news reports of the past few days and weeks have underscored the fluid environment generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, as cases continue to climb at a rapid pace throughout the United States, affecting people of all ages. While Vermont continues to be one of the safest states in our nation, we are not immune to these challenges as we bring together students, faculty and staff from places where cases are relatively low and from other areas where cases are rising at a rapid pace. These events emphasize the need for cooperation, rigor and discipline that the entire Norwich family must undertake to limit the spread of the virus. The health and well-being of our university family, and the central Vermont community, will depend on each and every one of us and our shared responsibility and commitment.

Today, I am announcing that due to the persistent presence and continued spread of COVID-19, no large public events will be taking place on campus this fall. We know this is disappointing news for everyone. It is, however, consistent with the university’s priority to make Norwich safe for students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff. Restricting events and visitors to campus will help minimize the likelihood or severity of an outbreak of the virus.
