Where will Norwich students be studying in China?
You will be studying and residing in Chengdu, China. Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province, an interior province in the southwest of the country, and famous for being home to the panda.
How much will it cost to study abroad in Chengdu?
The cost is expected to be the same as the fall semester in Northfield, Vt., with incidental costs on your own as in a normal academic term. The cost of living may be different so your spending money may or may not go as far as it does in Northfield.

What is not included?
Books, school supplies, passport and visa fee, personal expenses, non-school related travel expenses.
Do I need to understand Chinese?
No, all courses are taught in English. There is an English-speaking community on the campus and a host of English-speaking Chinese people who will be very happy to speak English with you and also teach you Chinese.
What is G-MEO?
Global Maximum Educational Opportunities (G-MEO) is the study abroad organization facilitating this Norwich University Expedition. G-MEO and Norwich have partnered together for a number of years, and we are very excited to be adding Nursing to our list of programs.
Will the courses be Norwich courses?
No, however all courses have been pre-approved to transfer back to Norwich as the specific classes you would need for the semester you will be away. If you have a special case, you should speak with the study abroad adviser to work on the specific details.
Will Norwich nursing students be the only Americans there?
No, in fact there will probably be other Norwich students as well as students from many other schools.
What is the housing like on the campus?
There is dorm-style living arrangements with other English speakers.
Will we take field trips and travel to see other parts of China?
Yes, there are excursions to various places and your studies will get you out of the classroom as well.
What sort of cultural experiences will we get to do?
You will be able to visit bamboo forests, create traditional arts, tour famous locations, see panda bears, and there are opportunities to participate in yoga, martial arts, concerts, and much more!
Do we get to leave campus and explore on our own?
Yes, G-MEO has a wonderful “buddy” program to help you get out and about safely and securely.
Are there Norwich students who have been to Chengdu that we could talk to about their experience in China?
Yes, the International Center has contact information for past students who would be very glad to answer any of your questions. Additionally, the International Center will host events throughout the semester to bring together past and future participants in this program.
