Gina Sherriff received her BA in Spanish from Carleton College in Minnesota, an MA in Spanish from Middlebury College in Spain, and her PhD in Spanish from Yale University.

Her research has focused on Latin American literature and cinema, especially detective fiction and horror films as they relate to contemporary politics of the Hispanic world.
