Cathy Frey is a professor of mathematics, who specializes in actuarial science, numerical analysis, and number theory.

A third-generation Vermonter, she joined the Norwich faculty in 1985 and is the former chair of the mathematics department and dean of the College of Science and Mathematics. She is currently serving as the chair of the Faculty Senate.

She earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science at the University of Vermont and has completed all exams necessary to become an associate in the Society of Actuaries.

Frey served on the Vermont Commission on Women from 2006 to 2017 and was the recipient of the Vermont Women in Higher Education Jackie Gribbons Award for leadership in 2008.
