Corey Brown has a Bachelor of Science in forestry and Master of Arts in criminal justice both from University of Massachusetts (1996 and 2008, respectively) and a juris doctor from Suffolk University Law School in 2014. He is a practicing attorney in Massachusetts with a focus on immigration law.

Brown has devoted much of his professional career to working in public service. As a high school educator assigned to New York City high schools, for example, he had classes explore existing nearby environmental issues and propose resolutions.

Students explored navigable waterways in Brooklyn, New York, and park tree inventories in Queens, New York, and surveyed soil at New York City beaches for the presence of polychlorinated biphenyls, aka PCBs, and other harmful toxins.

As a detective with the New York Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police, Brown investigated organized crime and gangs. He will teach environmental crime in the spring in preparation for Environmental Criminology minor next academic year.
