R. Danner Friend, Ph.D., PE, joined the faculty of the David Crawford School of Engineering at Norwich University in 2003.

He was named a full professor in 2016 and chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Military Institute, a Master of Science from Clemson University and a doctorate from Texas A&M. Friend is a registered professional engineer.
