Frank T. Vanecek holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Kent State University, with computer science degrees from the University of Dayton (B.S. 1974) and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (M.S. 1976). 

At Norwich, Professor Vanecek has taught courses in programming, data structures, database theory, computer forensics, ethics in computing, web design, and multi-media applications.

Presently he serves as Norwich University’s senior vice president for Student Affairs and Technology. Previously, he has held the positions of vice president of Academic Affairs, dean of the School of Business and Management, and chair of the Department of Computer Information Systems. In 1986, Professor Vanecek took a sabbatical to chair the Information Science Department at the University of Guam, where he developed the groundwork for the implementation of a computer/accounting training program for the governments of Palau, Truk, and Guam, funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior.  During a second sabbatical, 1995 to 1998, Professor Vanecek held the position of chair of the Computer Information Systems Department at the Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman.

Professor Vanecek was selected for a Norwich University Category I Dana Award for excellence in research and teaching and was awarded a Malone Fellowship by the National Council on U.S./Arab Relations to participate in a research/lecture program in Tunisia.
