Expect Challenge. Achieve Distinction.

Faculty and Staff of Norwich University

Amanda Northrop arrived at Norwich University in 2020. She earned her BA in zoology and PhD in biology from the University of Vermont.

While at UVM, she used the aquatic ecosystem found within the leaves of a carnivorous pitcher plant as a model system to investigate how aquatic ecosystems change due to anthropogenic enrichment. She used a combination of field and greenhouse experiments, as well as metaproteomics, to understand how changing bacterial communities alter the recovery of enriched ecosystems. She is passionate about aquatic ecosystem conservation and hopes to apply her findings to larger aquatic ecosystems like lakes and ponds.

She currently teaches Introductory Biology labs and Cell Biology.
