IPAD NOTE: Incoming students will be issued a new iPad (6th generation)*, a case, and an Apple Pencil (stylus). The fee for the device is $550 to be paid over the first two semesters ($275 each term). Each student owns their device and will be able to use it through all four years of their degree program.
iPads will be issued to students during orientation week prior to the start of classes. More and more courses are integrating this tool into class projects and assignments wherein faculty will expect students to have it on-hand. The University can better support a consistent hardware platform, provide access to a common set of applications that include the Microsoft Office suite, assure better service in case of breakage or damage, and design learning outcomes linked to a commonly available learning technology.
Technology demands vary significantly among academic majors. While the iPad is intended to enhance all students’ resources for learning, a computer may still be needed. All incoming students are encouraged to seek input from their home department or faculty in their major before purchasing new equipment for the fall.

- Students have access to Office365 including email, internet, printing, library systems, and discipline-specific applications.
Provided to Students Upon Arrival
- Wired (one active port per student) and Wireless access. Norwich recommends the use of wired network access while in the dorm.
Personal Computer (PC) / Macintosh (Mac) Desktop / Laptop Recommendations
- Wireless access/Ethernet cable. Norwich recommends each student bring an Ethernet cable to campus for use in the dorms.
- USB drives to store and transport data. We do provide access to Office365, and OneDrive, but it is always a good idea to back up.
- Printer-USB or locally attached printers only; wireless personal printing is not available.
- Norwich recommends regularly backing up important data to an external source, such as OneDrive.
