Celebrating 200 Years—Learn More About Norwich

Expect Challenge. Achieve Distinction.

All entering freshmen at Norwich University are required to take the online math placement exam before attending a NU-101 session. Students who have studied a foreign language prior to Norwich who wish to continue study must also complete a foreign language placement exam.

For students enrolling in the fall, it is requested all exams be completed by June 1 to allow advisers time to preregister students in courses at the appropriate skill level. Students unable to take the test online prior to June 1 or those who wish to demonstrate competency to waive requirements must take the appropriate proctored placement exam during NU-101.

In order to take the exam, you will need to have activated your Norwich username and password.

Math placement testing

The mathematics placement exam is administered to determine students’ first mathematics course. All incoming students are required to take the mathematics placement test before arriving on campus. This procedure ensures that you will enroll in the most appropriate mathematics course for your level of preparation.

Students should take the placement exam at the latest by June 1, so that your advisor and the Mathematics Department will know which courses you will be eligible for before you arrive on campus.
