The table below describes course eligibility determined by the placement test results:

#### LEVEL 0

**Course:**

MA005 (Preparatory Mathematics)

**Note:**

Students with placement score of 0 must take MA005 before taking any other mathematics course. In particular, they should take and pass MA005 before the end of their freshman year. *MA005 will NOT fulfill the Mathematics Requirement for graduation*.

#### LEVEL 1

**Course:**

MA101 & MA102 (Mathematics: A Liberal Art)

**Note:**

If a student is in a social science or liberal arts major that does not demand precalculus, the student should take MA101 or MA102.

**Course:**

MA095 (Intermediate Algebra)

**Note:**

Generally, if a student is in a technical major that demands precalculus or calculus at some point (or is a Navy ROTC student who must take Calculus I and II eventually), a placement score of 1 means the student should take MA095. This course is designed to prepare students for MA107: Precalculus. *MA095 will NOT fulfill the Mathematics Requirement for graduation*.

**Course:**

MA160 (Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers I)

**Note:**

If a student is an Education major, this is a required course. *MA160 will NOT fulfill the Mathematics Requirement for graduation*.

#### LEVEL 2

**Course:**

MA107 (Precalculus)

**Note:**

Generally, if a student is in a technical major that demands precalculus or calculus at some point (or is a Navy ROTC student who must take Calculus I and II eventually), a placement score of 2 means that the student should take MA107.
This course is designed to prepare students to take MA108 or MA121: Calculus I.

**Course:**

MA232 (Elementary Statistics)

**Note:**

If a student is in a social science or liberal arts major that does not demand precalculus, the student should take MA101, MA102, or MA232.

#### LEVEL 3

**Course:**

MA108 (Applied Calculus) or MA121 (Calculus I)

**Note:**

Generally, if a student is in a technical major that demands precalculus or calculus at some point, a placement score of 3 means that the student should take a calculus course.

MA108 is designed for students not majoring in engineering, mathematics, or the physical sciences and is typically taken by Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, Accounting, Management or Engineering Management majors.

MA121 is designed for students majoring in physical sciences, engineering, mathematics or any major that would require further calculus courses. MA121 is also required for students with Navy ROTC scholarships.
