Youth Leadership Conference
Conducted across the nation and sponsored by the Military Order of World Wars (MOWW), Youth Leadership Conferences (YLC) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) annually sanction the YLC curriculum. YLC classes are led by skilled instructors and supervised by well-qualified Team Leaders and Counselors. Classes are participatory. The New England Chapter of YLC is conducted at Norwich University, the nation’s first senior military college. During the weekend, participants are grouped into teams and involved in both classes and physical challenges, including:
- Intelligent Leadership
- Effective Communications
- Climbing Wall
- Leadership Reaction Course
- Our Constitution & The Bill of Rights
- The Citizen Soldier
- Free Enterprise & Personal Finance
- Cyber Security
- Honor & Ethics
You should only apply if you are interested in pursuing a college education, attending a Federal Academy, military college and/or applying for a Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship. Applicants must be a sophomore, junior or senior in high school. It is recommended that the applicant possess a 2.5 GPA or above. Students are required to submit an essay of 500 words or less titled: “The Bill of Rights and My Responsibilities,” describing what this means to them as a United States Citizen. Applications can be accepted at any time with or without the essay, but the essay must be received two weeks prior to the program start date.

There is a $100 fee for each participant. The fee will cover all meals, a t-shirt and certificate for completing the program. Your only other cost is travel to and from the University. A limited number of scholarships will be provided by The Military Order of the World Wars to deserving individuals. The fee should be submitted upon receiving the emailed acceptance letter. Scholarship recipients will have this fee reimbursed upon completion of the program. Space is limited to 60 participants per session.
Once you submit the online application, you’ll receive a Medical Release and Waiver form. Please email the completed form to email@example.com or fax to 802.485.2739. Participants (and their parent/guardian) will receive an emailed acceptance letter with directions on how to proceed.
