New Undergraduate Guidelines & Requirements

We review each application on an individual basis depending on which major you plan to pursue. You should base your high school coursework on the following guidelines to prepare for your desired major. The following guidelines are listed by the department in which your major resides:

School of Architecture + Art

Architecture

  • English: 4 years
  • Math: 3 years, including algebra I and II, geometry, and pre-calculus
  • Lab Science: 3 years, including physics
  • Art or Creative Writing: 1 year

School of Business & Management

Accounting, Computer Science, Computer Security and Information Assurance, Engineering Management, Management

  • English: 4 years
  • Math: 3 years, including algebra I and II, geometry, and advanced math
  • Lab Science: 2 years, including biology and chemistry

David Crawford School of Engineering

Civil Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

  • English: 4 years
  • Math: 4 years, including algebra I and II, geometry, pre-calculus and calculus
  • Lab Science: 3 years, including chemistry and physics

School of Humanities

Communications, English, Spanish

  • English: 4 years
  • Math: 3 years, including algebra, geometry and trigonometry
  • Lab Science: 2 years
  • Modern Language: 2 years
  • Social Science: 3 years

School of Mathematics and Sciences

Chemistry, Math, Physics

  • English: 4 years
  • Math: 4 years, including algebra I and II, geometry, and pre-calculus
  • Lab Science: 3 years, including chemistry and physics

Biology, Biochemistry, Geology

  • English: 4 years
  • Math: 3 years, including algebra I and II, geometry and pre-calculus
  • Lab Science: 3 years, including biology and chemistry

Environmental Science, Nursing, Physical Education, Sports Medicine (both Athletic Training and Health Science concentrations)

  • English: 4 years
  • Math: 3 years, including algebra I and II, geometry and advanced math
  • Lab Science: 3 years, including biology and chemistry

  • English: 4 years
