Ken Leon
Ken Leon’s contact with Norwich University has been limited since he graduated as a Corps member in 1989. But his experiences on The Hill, especially the lessons of the University’s Honor Code, have never left him.
The Honor Code is a central part of my Norwich and life experiences.
~ Ken Leon, ’89
A resident of Alexandria, Va., Ken is a construction manager for Jacobs Engineering. He is currently overseeing a $50 million infrastructure upgrade project for a confidential client under the Eisenhower Executive Office Building project, adjacent to the White House.
Ken made his first gift to Norwich in early 2008, a multi-year pledge that will be matched by the George F. and Sybil. H. Fuller Foundation. Ken directed his pledge to the Skull and Swords Scholarship because the values epitomized by that scholarship fund—courage, honor, temperance, and wisdom—continue to resonate with him today.
The George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Foundation, based in Worcester, Mass., has challenged Norwich University to raise $200,000 from young alumni by the end of 2008. Under the generous terms of its challenge grant, the Fuller Foundation will match—dollar-for-dollar—any first-time gift from an alumnus who graduated from Norwich since 1986. The alum’s gift can be for any purpose: a scholarship, academic program, student activity, or construction project; the Fuller Foundation will direct its match to the Wise Campus Center.
While Ken appreciates the foundation’s match, he’s particularly pleased to know his pledge will help foster a values-based education at Norwich for future cadets.
“The Honor Code is a central part of my Norwich and life experiences,” he says. “After your four years at Norwich, you don’t leave those values there…. It’s something that works itself into my daily life.”
