Norwich Forever! Campaign Chair, Pierson Mapes ’59 and his wife Pat, have offered Norwich alumni and friends an incredible challenge in hopes of encouraging significant additional support to secure the future of Norwich University. Any deferred gift of $10,000 or more, or outright gift or pledge of $50,000 or more, will be matched for the benefit of Norwich! There are a number of ways to participate in the Mapes Match from making a current gift or pledge to including Norwich in your will to making a gift that guarantees a fixed income stream for life.
Ways you can give
- Charitable Gift Annuity
- 50th reunion and Old Guard, $10,000 or greater:
Make an irrevocable gift to Norwich and receive a charitable deduction and guaranteed income for life.- Convert low yield assets such as CDs, bonds or dividend stocks into a higher yielding fixed income stream.
- Income stream can be immediate or deferred to a future date.
- Fixed income is guaranteed regardless of market performance.
- $50,000 or greater Outright Gift or Pledge
- All donors:
A new opportunity just released! Make a gift or pledge of $50,000 or more and the Mapes will match it with a gift from their estate. - Retirement Plan
- 50th reunion and Old Guard, $10,000 or greater:
Do you have a retirement plan that you do not need or is causing you to increase your tax bracket because of required minimum distributions?- Name Norwich as the partial or full beneficiary of that plan;
- A simple one-page transaction with the retirement company, at no cost.
- Bequest
- 50th reunion and Old Guard, $10,000 or greater:
Name Norwich as a beneficiary of your will or trust!- Designate Norwich to receive a percentage of your estate or a fixed dollar amount;
- Appropriate language:
I hereby bequeath X%, or the remainder of my estate, to Norwich University, 158 Harmon Drive, Northfield, Vermont.
- Charitable Remainder Trust
- 50th reunion and Old Guard, $10,000 or greater:
Make an irrevocable gift to Norwich and receive a charitable deduction and an income stream that meets your needs.- Investments tailored to specific needs of donor or beneficiaries.
- Donor retains control of the investments and receives income for life.
- Life Insurance
- 50th reunion and Old Guard, $10,000 or greater:
Do you have a policy that you no longer need?- Name Norwich as the partial or full beneficiary of that policy;
- A simple one-page transaction with the insurance company, at no cost.
Details
- The Mapes Match is not included in the class total for your reunion.
- Current, past, and emeriti trustees are not eligible for this program.
- Planned gifts qualify for 1819 Circle membership.
- Current gifts and pledge payments qualify for membership in the Partridge Society.
