The University Staff Council is an advisory body serving the President of Norwich University both directly and through the Chief Administrative Officer. The Staff Council is charged with properly representing the various University staff constituencies and assuring that staff issues and advice are considered in the institutional decision-making process. The Chair of the Staff Council will be a seated member of the President's Advisory Council. Specific issues that the Council should address include the following:
- Improvement communication between the staff and the University Administration.
- Make specific recommendations to improve systems and policies so that staff may better and more efficiently serve customers, including on-going review of the Staff Handbook and other charges as directed by the President.
- Assist in the training of Total Quality Management techniques and methodology, including disbursement of funds allocated annually for staff development by the President.
- Identify areas of concern and suggestions for improvement from the various staff constituencies. The Council should discuss the issues and, if appropriate submit specific, detailed recommendations directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.
- Review Charge and Bylaws of Staff Council and update as necessary - at least every 3 years.
- Staff council shall have seated membership on University committees, including but not limited to:
- President's Advisory Council
- Bowen Award Committee
- Budget and Finance Committee
- Americans with Disabilities Act Committee
- Identify areas and assist in the recognition of staff members' achievements and services to Norwich and beyond.
