Equipment Mechanic/Maintenance Worker
This position reports to the Transportation and Grounds Supervisor and will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating Norwich University cars, buses, trucks, vans, and equipment. Complete Vermont State Inspection reports and preventive maintenance reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspects vehicles and equipment for safety hazards, repairs as necessary
Performs Vermont State Motor Vehicle Inspections
Completes Vermont State Inspection reports
Completes preventive maintenance reports
Operates cutting, brazing, and welding equipment
Cleans and washes vehicles and equipment
Maintains spare parts and supply inventory
Performs general housekeeping in work area and on vehicles and equipment
Drives vans and buses for various events, as required
Helps other facilities trades when needed
Must have successfully completed Vocational Education course in vehicle repair, including diesel engines and one year’s experience or five year’s experience in vehicle maintenance.
Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Drivers License with a minimum of Class “B” rating with a passenger endorsement.
Must be able to perform heavy, laborious work.
