Payroll Assistant


The Payroll Assistant will provide administrative support to the Human Resources office by maintaining accurate employee data, producing correct paychecks, and providing general reception and office support as assigned. We are seeking an outgoing, personable, and highly organized person for busy, fast-paced payroll office. This full time position consists of all aspects of student payroll processing, verifications of employment, and multi-state paperwork filings.


the Payroll Assistant will prepare and maintain University payroll information for processing by an outside payroll agency, specifically for the Norwich University student payroll. The Payroll Assistant will stay current with payroll tax developments, distribute payroll checks, and maintain payroll documents such as electronic timesheets, I-9, W-2, and W-4 forms. This position works closely with the Payroll Specialist as necessary, and with the Student Financial Planning office to distribute Federal work study funds.
The Payroll Assistant enters all faculty contracts for CGCS including but not limited to Instructor, capstone, thesis, & course developers, into the Banner system. This position provides back up to the HR assistant and helps with overflow when needed. The Payroll Assistant completes employment verifications to various agencies to include financial institutions, government agencies and hiring agencies, in a timely manner. This position tracks and enters all non-benefit eligible terminations in Banner, runs ad hoc reports as needed for employee information from Banner and is the problem solver for the HR department on all E-time related questions. Supports the Benefits Specialist in Banner data entry and processing and assists the HRIS in maintaining data integrity.


High School diploma and three years related experience, college education preferred. Experience with ADP payroll systems desired. Strong problem-solving and customer service skills are required; experience with Banner and knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, a plus.
