Technician - David Crawford School of Engineering
A Technician is sought to provide technical and electronics support for the School of Engineering. Responsible for proactively maintaining and repairing electronic equipment as well as computer hardware and software in the engineering labs, preparing electronics laboratories for day-to-day instruction, and assisting professors in instructing students on the use the equipment. Responsible for recommending and coordinating purchase requests, for monitoring the loan of equipment, and for maintaining stores of incidental electronic items. Supports the faculty in teaching and research, assists students with projects, supervises student employees, provides general support for School-related events, and assists in planning field trips.
The successful candidate will have three or more years of related job experience. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is preferred. The candidate must have an expert working knowledge of electronics instrumentation, personal computers, software licensing and deployment, instruction in equipment use, and lab administration. The candidate must be a team player with strong interpersonal and communications skills, be willing to master new equipment and software, enforce safety standards, and consistently be able to interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students in a highly responsive and positive manner.
