Customer Service Assistant

Description:

The Office of Admissions seeks a qualified individual to join our customer service/visitation team in the support of our mission to recruit students for Norwich University, reporting to the Customer Service Manager. The job entails a number of functions including answering the central phone line for the University and transferring calls to the appropriate individuals/offices within the University. The position schedules appointments for visitors with various University offices, produces visitation itineraries, serves as first contact for visiting students and families and acts as facilitator for visitors during the visitation experience. The position participates in the coordination and administration of all special events to include: Open Houses, NU Experiences and other special visitation opportunities. The Customer Service Assistant will also enter data into the University database as directed.

Responsibilities:

• Answer the central phone line for the university and transfer calls to the appropriate individuals and/or offices
• Assist the Customer Service Manager with scheduling appointments for visitors and coordinate interviews with the requested University personnel.
• Produce itineraries for visitors
• Data entry
• Assist with Special Events
• Attend to the needs of our visitors and ensure that the admissions area is presentable at all times
• Responsible for refreshment supplies and re-ordering inventory
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

A High School diploma is required. The qualified candidate will be personable, articulate and neat in appearance. Telephone and communication skills and the ability to multi-task are critical. The ideal candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite to include Word and Excel. Experience with data entry and use of database software (Banner) a plus. Although the position is mostly Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 4:30, there will be events that will require work beyond the regular day and could include weekends as well.
