Safe Rides Coordinator - Updated

Description:

Seeking applications for a part-time (approximately 15 hours per week), temporary Safe Rides Coordinator to work with the Norwich University Office of Health & Wellness. Create and maintain rosters for van sign-out and student sign-up; maintains up-to-date student roster and log of student training and contact information; communicate with students seeking information; market the Safe Rides Program; and understand NU policy and dangers of drinking and driving. In addition, keep accurate records on van requests and communicate with transportation staff; coordinate student worker schedules; provide oversight to student workers; and train students in critical thinking skills and environmental strategies to prevent difficulties in transporting intoxicated students.


Requirements:

High School diploma and some college credit. Life experience can be used in place of college education in most cases. Basic understanding of alcohol use and abuse. Candidate will have an understanding of Vermont Statues on underage drinking and some understanding of adolescent development. Promote responsibility and accountability for student staff in regard to their own behavior as well as the knowledge of how to promote student staff taking responsibility for intoxicated students and students in unsafe or challenging situations. Interpersonal skills in dealing with student staff and intoxicated students. Ability to organize goals to keep Safe Rides running smoothly and understands how Safe Rides provides a link to the University’s overall mission. Ability to use a computer database system for recording student and staff hours for pay, posting the number of runs and clients supported, and preparing any required official reports.

Duty Hours:
This is a part time / temporary position without benefits.
The hours for this position are 2100 Thursday to 0200 Friday, 2200 on Friday to 0300 on Saturday, and 2200 on Saturday to 0300 on Sunday. The position begins with hiring through mid-May 2014. On each side of spring break the incumbent will work Thursday night and Friday night to start Spring Break and will pick up on Saturday night to Sunday morning at the conclusion of Spring Break.
