Assistant Professor - Geology

Description:

Norwich University announces a new position starting fall 2012 for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Geology in a small undergraduate department that offers degrees in both Geology and Environmental Science. The Department seeks a field-based petrologist with “hard rock” expertise. Teaching duties include mineralogy, petrology, structural geology, field geology and introductory courses. Additionally, the successful candidate will be thoroughly involved in Senior research projects and be actively engaged in summer research involving students. Norwich University, located in a rural setting in the center of the Green Mountains, has a long tradition of field-based learning. The University and the Department pride themselves on high quality teaching and active research by their faculty and students.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include a Ph.D. Ideally the candidate will compliment the expertise of the other faculty, which include sedimentation, stratigraphy, geomorphology, and paleoenvironmental studies, and have teaching and research interests that allow collaboration on environmental projects. Teaching experience and an interest in applied geophysics at the student project level are desired. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
