Assistant Vice President for International Education

Description:

Norwich University, located in central Vermont, seeks applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Vice President for International Education (AVPIE), preferably to start in January 2014. The AVPIE provides vision and leadership for the University’s internationalization efforts. He/she advises and assists international students with all aspects of campus life and coordinates exchange programs and assists students and scholars with these exchanges.

In addition, he/she serves as the Designated School Official in the government’s Student & Exchange Visitor Information System and ensures institutional compliance with federal SEVIS program requirements. The AVPIE maintains immigration records in accordance with federal regulations and timelines and is responsible for the preparation and conduct of all DHS audits. He/she serves as an administrator of Norwich’s Crisis Management – Emergencies Abroad Program, manages the International Center’s budget, and supervises the center’s staff.



Requirements:

We are seeking an individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. He/she must also have the ability to interact with study abroad students and international students with energy and enthusiasm; to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students; work independently and manage time effectively; and pay attention to detail and maintain accurate records. In addition, must be able to maintain confidentiality, travel, and work with external partners. Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Qualifications:

A master's degree is required; at least five years of international experience in an academic setting; and proficiency in at least one foreign language required.
