Administrative Systems Manager

Description:

The Manager of Administrative Computing Team provides leadership, technical direction, coordination, staff supervision, education, training, and technical support for the University’s central administrative information systems, including Ellucian/Banner enterprise systems and associated hardware, software, and ancillary systems. S/he leads a team of Application/System Administrators, Functional Area Specialists and Programmer Analysts. This individual will apply communication and problem-solving skills and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her development team on issues related to the design, development, deployment, integration and support of mission-critical information and software systems which may be hosted locally or purchased as software as a service.



Responsibilities:

* Prioritize and manage team tasks and projects.
* Perform Linux and Windows administration.
* Perform Java server and web server administration.
* Identify applicable patches.
* Perform Banner installs and upgrades.
* Work with Ellucian Support Team in identifying bugs and problems/resolutions.
* Perform annual staff reviews.


Qualifications:

We are seeking an individual with the following strengths and experience: management and prioritization skills; strong interpersonal skills; strong technical skills; self-motivation. Banner SIS system administration; knowledge of Linux and Microsoft servers; programming ability in languages such as Perl, SQL, C, Cobol, Java and MS com. Knowledge of Oracle Middleware and Tomcat environments, as well as storage management processes is also a plus. Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.



Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum five years’ experience as a Senior Application Developer, Team Leader or Manager, directly supporting ERP systems in a college, university, or similar academic setting. In addition, evidence of progressively responsible experience and responsibility in administrative computing environments; broad range of knowledge about hardware, operating systems, networks, software applications, programming, scripting languages, and support issues and models; working knowledge of Oracle database technologies; and the ability to work collegially and effectively with faculty, support staff, and administrators at all levels is desired.
