Graphic Designer

Description:

The Graphic Designer is key member of the Office of Communications, creating a visual identity that inspires, informs, and engages Norwich University’s diverse constituencies. We believe that the best designs develop from a deep understanding of the University, its values and traditions, and through collaborations that leverage the strengths of each member of the creative team.




Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include concept development, graphic design, and layout for Norwich’s primary publications including the quarterly alumni magazine, annual report, homecoming program, and graduate school residency program; design and production of various online and print materials for departments across campus; and providing innovative thinking to help keep the University's aesthetic fresh, current and relevant to its audiences. In addition, the Graphic Designer will understand the goals for each project and demographics of the intended recipients; ensure that all design elements, templates and finished solutions incorporate the University’s design and brand standards; and deliver the highest quality output, on time, within budget and without error.


Qualifications:

The Graphic Designer must be a dedicated, motivated team player, interested in raising the bar for graphic communications. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in design or a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in visual design, including magazine layout and production, and technical skills including color theory, typography, and layout. Expertise in the latest versions of graphic design software, including but not limited to Advanced Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign, is expected. He/she must have a portfolio of relevant work that demonstrates the ability to translate ideas and concepts into compelling visual design. He/she must have a history of successful teamwork, positive interpersonal skills, an ability to juggle multiple demands, meet deadlines, and problem solve. Excellent written communication skills and ability to assist in proofing of content is a plus. Exemplifying Norwich University’s guiding values of respect, integrity and accountability is essential.
