Norwich University is seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented person of integrity to serve as a Development Officer
The Development Officer coordinates and directs the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for major gift prospects in his/her assigned geographic territory in support of University priorities. Works closely with staff in the Class Giving office to coordinate major gift prospect strategies for reunion classes. Collaborates with other areas of the University as required to include, but not limited to, Alumni Relations, Communications and Academic Affairs. Assists in coordinating special and regular University events (on and off-campus) involving the President and appropriate Cabinet members. Assists in the coordination of VIP and executive travel as necessary. Responsible for data accuracy, data updates and reports associated with Banner (Contact Reports, Prospect Lists, Contact Data, etc). Represents the University as required.
We are seeking applicants with a demonstrated track record of raising philanthropic gifts from individuals and who will successfully and directly manage constituents as well as discover prospects who have the capacity and inclination to support the University at the major gift level and above.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Experience in fundraising or sales with a minimum of five years professional experience. A willingness to travel extensively and evening and weekend work is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Direct solicitation of philanthropic gifts for a college/university. Previous work at a college/university. Experience and knowledge of planned giving vehicles.
