HVAC Supervisor

Description:

Oversees highly skilled journey-level maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial and commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment, and control systems such as chillers, air conditioners, heat-pumps, oil fired boilers, oil furnaces, pumps, air handlers, exhaust air units, make up air units, duct air conveyance systems, variable air volume systems, variable volume temperature systems, multi-zone units, electrical power and control circuits, time clocks, gas piping, fuel oil supply piping, radiant and fan forced heaters, and complex computer operated direct digital control (DDC) and pneumatic control systems. Supervises University electricians, plumbers, and heating plant crew. Ability to operate computer direct digital control (DDC), operating Andover system is preferred. Determines HVAC systems proper operation, trouble shoots malfunctions, and calibrates and repairs equipment. Carries out the designated procedures for seasonal start-ups and shut-downs of all related equipment. Performs related duties as required.

Requirements:

Education and experience equivalent to completion of a high school diploma is required. A two-year technical degree in air conditioning functions such as heating, cooling, and ventilation plus two years of progressively responsible air conditioning of HVAC experience or completion of an apprentice-level vocational training program in air conditioning; plus progressively responsible air conditioning or HVAC experience combined with the apprentice training totaling four years of progressively responsible air conditioning or HVAC experience preferred. Computer programming (VB) is required. Valid state motor vehicle license. Serves as supervisor in more complex repair work. Provides advice to other operations on troubleshooting and or repair. Knowledge of electrical work, repairing electrical controls, and plumbing. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of employer prior to appointment. Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks including lifting, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions and from ladders and scaffolds. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Description:

Seeking experienced applicants to be responsible for the operation and maintenance of boilers and supportive equipment, and the production of electrical power by steam turbine and diesel generators. Some second-shift hours and weekends are required.

Requirements:

A high-school degree with 3 to 5 years’ experience, solid working knowledge of preventive maintenance, emission control, HVAC and electrical steam-fitting, boiler and plumbing skills.
