Assistant Commandant

Description:

With only administrative direction from the Deputy Commandant, the Assistant Commandant mentors cadet leadership; oversees and administers disciplinary sanctions less than suspension; and supervises training, administration, supply maintenance, safety, security, morals and welfare of a battalion (300 members) of the Corps of Cadets. The Assistant Commandant develops and documents student leadership competencies; develops and implements instruction; and maintains quality control of instruction. Assists in the coordination and scheduling of ceremonies, training, events and activities involving the student body. Prepares lesson plans, training support materials, training aids, criterion reference examinations, warning orders, operation orders, memorandums and letters of instruction. Schedules instructors, classrooms, outdoor training locations, multimedia support, medical support, food service support, transportation and other resources required for Battalion training. Provides training, ethics and leadership instruction to the student population, evaluates performance using multiple assessment strategies and maintains student training records. Coaches, teaches, counsels and mentors students assigned to the Battalion. Enforces University policies, rules and regulations. Responds to parental inquiries, approves leaves/absences, conducts investigations and performs other duties as assigned. Serves as evening and weekend duty officer on a rotational basis. In the event of a university emergency is designated as an essential staff member.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years related experience, including service as a commissioned officer with training development and command experience. Master’s degree and higher education experience preferred. Knowledge of military training and discipline, and strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills are essential. Specialized knowledge of conflict resolution, leadership development, student activities, policy development, and skills in mentoring and student advising are necessary. Incumbent must be able to pass an Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) upon accepting the position and annually thereafter and must meet the U.S. Army height/weight standards. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes some early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Business Process Analyst/Data Integrity Officer

Description:

The business process analyst/data integrity officer’s role is to devise and design business process requirements for all Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) SCT Banner-related business unit modules, processes, operations and core organizational functions. This includes researching and analyzing data in support of business unit requirements. This position is also responsible for proactively generating auditing reports with recommended improvements to operational procedures as well as providing first point of contact with business unit management to correct issues and provide business unit process maps to the business around customer data.

Responsibilities

BPA related

  • Chart existing business processes in order to define current business activities for the development of procedures and models based on the approved methodology.
  • Meet with business process owners, and map out operations requirements.
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
  • Communicate process changes, enhancements, and modifications—verbally or through written documentation—to management and staff so that issues and solutions are understood.
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to Business Unit Owners.

Data integrity related

  • Drive data integrity processes and controls utilizing sound audit reporting.
  • Ensure that there is a coordinated and comprehensive approach to maintaining and improving the quality of the data in all core systems. Documentation of all data cleaning that takes place ensuring its completion.
  • Identify further areas for data cleaning, undertaking consultation and gaining agreement with users as to who is responsible for undertaking data cleaning. Where users are undertaking the data cleaning provide coaching to ensure it is cleaned correctly.
  • Produce reports using tools from core systems to support data cleaning, validation and ad hoc requests from users.
  • Motivate ongoing communications between IT and administrative business and process areas.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with business process modeling/mapping, methodology development and data modeling.
  • Proven experience in the operation and analysis of databases.
  • Working knowledge of SCT Banner.
  • Working technical knowledge of SQL/SQR programming languages.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and take action on it.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years’ experience in business process analysis, or an equivalent combination. Must have a background in information technology with additional expertise in the field of business administration and management information systems with related work experience. Experience dealing with diverse groups.

Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness

Description:

Provide leadership, vision, oversight and management for all aspects of the University’s institutional research along with the associated planning activities. Plan and implement data collection and analysis; conceptualize, design and conduct analytical and other studies; prepare and transmit appropriate information to external and internal audiences; and provide planning and research support to University constituents. Provide leadership in the collection, synthesis, analysis, and presentation of data in support of institutional effectiveness, for regional and specialized accreditation groups and the University public relations office, and to support University-wide academic assessment activities. Coordinate institutional compliance with the requirements of the Higher Education Act (HEA), as amended. The director reports to the president of the University.

Requirements:

A relevant master’s degree is required. Five years of experience in institutional research, institutional effectiveness or closely related activities in higher education is required A functional knowledge of computer applications for data acquisition and analysis is required. Personal computer knowledge must include the ability to prepare documents, reports, spreadsheets and databases, as well as specialized knowledge of statistical analysis and research software such as SAS or SPSS. Knowledge of the SunGard Banner system is a plus. The ability to write concise analytical reports that are appropriate for a specific readership is required. The ability to interact with administrators, faculty and staff at all levels in a congenial, courteous manner is required.

Senior Programmer Analyst and Developer

Description:

Develop new programs or applications to deliver data from an Oracle/SCT Banner EIS in a web intranet environment. Develop or modify reports with sql, pl/sql, perl and Argos and other reporting tool. Provide EIS technical support to functional users. Perform a variety of programming assignments requiring knowledge of established programming procedures and data processing requirements. Maintain and modify programs. Make approved changes by amending flow charts, developing processing logic, and coding changes. Test and document modifications and write operational instructions.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science with at least 3-5 years of experience in application software development that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Experience with Oracle and SQL reporting tools and a thorough knowledge of Windows OS and network fundamentals preferred. Experience with Java server pages and database-driven websites preferred. Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills; oral and written communication skills; excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to foster collaborative working relationships with diverse groups.

Training Battalion Senior Enlisted Advisor/Instructor

Description:

Norwich University, the nation’s first private military college and the birthplace of ROTC, seeks an experienced, dynamic leader with senior noncommissioned officer experience to fill the position of Training Battalion Senior Enlisted Advisor/Instructor (TBSEA/I). The TBSEA/I is a uniformed, command sergeant major position with direct responsibility for the management of techniques and procedures to be followed in the development and conduct of training.

Incumbent participates in evaluation and selection of cadets for leadership positions within the Corps of Cadets, as well as; monitor job performance of cadets and counsel cadets on job performance as necessary; assist in supervising cadet life in all resident living areas; assist in supervising the condition and maintenance of cadet living areas; assists in weekday and weekend inspections, training, reviews, parades, and initial cadet training; assists with the consult of parents, faculty and staff, on cadet issues; provides formal and informal instruction in physical training, barracks inspection, and drill and ceremonies as required; makes frequent inspections of all cadet activities and living areas; inspects all common areas- lobbies, latrines, halls, and outside police for cleanliness and serviceability; enforces established safety and security procedures; provides prompt, courteous, and effective liaison to all organizational customers and service providers (i.e., parents, Infirmary, Public Safety, Plant Operations, Auxiliary Services); counsel cadets on personal, leadership performance, academic, disciplinary, and professional issues; maintains high standards in work ethic and personal wellness; assists the Training Battalion Assistant Commandant as required.

Requirements:

This position requires a minimum of five years related experience, preferring an individual with service as a senior noncommissioned officer with training development, command, and equal opportunity experience. Knowledge of military training and discipline, military/civilian equal opportunity, and strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills are essential. Specialized knowledge of conflict resolution, risk management procedures, leadership development, student activities, policy development, formal and informal investigation procedures, and skills in mentoring, counseling, and student advising are necessary. A commitment to setting an example of personal fitness and wellness is preferred. An associate’s degree is required; a bachelor’s degree and higher education experience is preferred. Must be willing to work flexible schedule that includes some early morning hours, nights and weekends as required.
