  • safety procedures
  • security
  • insurance and liability
  • regulations
  • laboratory operations
  • risk management

The Chief Administrative Officer shall serve as chairperson. The Chief of Security and Safety will serve as vice-chairperson.

Position/Function

The Safety and Loss Prevention Committee is to continually evaluate operations and procedures throughout the University so as to maximize safety and security, minimize injuries, reduce risks, and prevent loss of and damage to assets. In order for the committee to meets its objective it must, as a minimum, perform the following:

  • review all accident report procedures;
  • review all accidents and incidents and make recommendations with respective to corrective action so as to prevent a recurrence;
  • assure that applicable records are properly maintained;
  • regularly evaluate all aspects of the University's operations and premises to identify potential risks or areas of concern;
  • formulate corrective action for unsafe conditions or acts observed;
  • formulate loss control guidelines;
  • review all risk exposures.

Reporting

This committee reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.
