Make your time at Norwich count.Cultivate your interests, discover your skills, get in tune with your values. And then put it all together. Career readiness and management is meant to be a fluid process throughout your Norwich experience and your working life. You have endless opportunities to build your skill sets and develop your talents, and everyone at NU wants to help you reach your fullest potential.
There are a million and one websites to find job postings. Most of you already know about sites like Monster, Career Builder and Indeed. The CIC has partnered with Handshake to bring thousands of job postings right to you! Based on your search criteria Handshake can help connect you with your next opportunity. Many of the employers are alumni and want to hire new grads just like you!
Tapping into your network or the Norwich network is just as critical as applying online. Having an internal reference at a company is a great way to get in through the “back door.”
Speaking of references, who are you using as your references? Unlike written letters of recommendation, people who serve as references are often called by a potential employer to “vouch” for your skills, character and experience!
Using social media can certainly help speed up your job search! Dare to be different and you will be noticed! Remember, it is all about differentiating yourself and marketing your brand!
Be sure to follow up with the employer about the status of your application. Don’t forget to send a thank you note after each of your interviews to reiterate your interest in the position!
For more strategies and tips to conduct a successful job search and more about choosing references, check out the document section on Handshake!
