New Residential Student orientation schedule Aug. 21–26, 2008
Thursday, Aug. 21 - Academic Day
7–8 a.m. Breakfast, Wise Campus Center
All students should plan to eat a good breakfast in preparation for a full day of activities with their Orientation groups.
9–11:30 a.m. Academic Orientation and Advising
Follow the instructions in your registration packet (that you received on Wed., Aug. 20) for the location of your major or department. Start your academic career with a divisional meeting and then academic advising.
11:30–1 p.m. Lunch with your Academic Advisor, Plumley Armory
Have lunch with your advisor and other students in your major.
1–2 p.m. Academic Advising and Enrollment continued (if needed)
1:30–3 p.m. Information Fair, Lobby of Science Complex/Wise Campus Center
The Information Fair will be held in the lobby of Science Complex/outside Partridge. This is an opportunity to learn more about the services available to you, find a work-study position and sign up for door prizes.
3–4:30 p.m. Orientation Information Session, Location TBA
5–6 p.m. Dinner, Wise Campus Center
Make plans to meet for dinner with your Orientation Leader/Resident Advisor and your Orientation group members.
7:30–9 p.m. Playfair, Plumley Armory
Mandatory
Join your classmates, RAs and OLs for the ultimate icebreaker experience. We guarantee a night of unforgettable fun.
9–10:30 p.m. Outdoor Movie and bonfire, Wise Campus Center Quad
Friday, Aug. 22
7–8 a.m. Breakfast, Wise Campus Center
All Friday sessions are mandatory
8 a.m.–noon Norwich University Tools for Success Sessions, See schedule for details. Sessions Include:

3–4:15 p.m. Take this opportunity to get cleaned up and prepare to attend the cruise
4:15 p.m. Meet in front of Roberts Hall for departure to Cruise
5:30–10 p.m. Cruise, Burlington
The evening activities will take place aboard the Spirit of Ethan Allen for a cruise around Lake Champlain—includes deejay and dancing.
Saturday, Aug. 23
7–8 a.m. Breakfast, Wise Campus Center
9 a.m.–4 p.m. G.I.V.E., Milano Ballroom
This session is mandatory.
Get Into the Volunteer Experience! Join your fellow classmates in giving back to the Northfield community. Attire should be items you won’t mind getting dirty and sturdy footwear. Lunch and refreshments will be served.
5–6 p.m. Dinner, Wise Campus Center
Make plans to meet for dinner with your Orientation Leader/Resident Advisor and your Orientation group members.
9–11 p.m. Late Night at the WICK, Wise Campus Center
Join your classmates for a late night snack, pool tournament, and board games.
Sunday, Aug. 24
7–8 a.m. Breakfast, Wise Campus Center
noon–1 p.m. Lunch, Wise Campus Center
1:30 p.m. Oath Ceremony and Parade, Upper Parade Ground
This session is mandatory. Business attire required. Please arrive promptly at 1:15 p.m. for seating. The ceremony and parade last one hour.
The NU Class of 2012, both prospective cadets and new traditional civilian students, will assemble on the Upper Parade Ground to pledge their willingness to accept and apply the Honor Code, abide by the Norwich Rules and Regulations, foster the Norwich spirit and uphold the traditions of the University.
Parents, family, friends, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend. Prospective cadets will not be able to speak with their parents, family or friends before, during or after the ceremony. However, traditional students can meet with their parents, family, and friends as their schedules allow.
5 p.m. Freshman BBQ and Field Day, Disney Field (Rain location: Plumley Armory.)
6:30 p.m. Catholic Mass, White Chapel

Mandatory for all members of the NU Community
Official opening of the 2008-2009 academic year. Business attire required.
